Singapore Government to host eCommerce seminar

The Singapore Government is to host an eCommerce seminar on December 2.

“E-commerce is fast changing competition dynamics and creating new market opportunities. In the current environment of a sluggish global economy, eCommerce can play an important role to spur economic growth and employment,” said a statement from the Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS), which is organising the event.

The CCS says the government can play a pivotal role to orchestrate new eCommerce ecosystems in Singapore’s economy.

The seminar – themed “Opportunities and challenges in the e-playing field” – will be supported by IE Singapore and Spring Singapore. It will explore the opportunities and challenges with emerging eCommerce activities in Singapore and the region.

More than 150 participants from different business industries are expected to attend. The

seminar is designed to help participants learn how to develop eBusiness strategies, comply with competition law, as well as identify anti-competitive behaviour in the eCommerce context.

Speakers include representatives from Google, A.T. Kearney, Wego, Rajah & Tann LLP and IE Singapore.
