Brookstone unveils new travel retail concept

Chinese owned Brookstone has unveiled a new retail concept created for airport locations.

Travellers passing through Salt Lake City International airport in the US in hopes of finding travel-friendly clothing and the top brands in gear have a new destination: Carry On, the first store of a new concept created by Brookstone aimed at the travel retailing market.

Brookstone, resurrected by China’s Sanpower Group, opened the store on January 8 in the Delta Airlines terminal.

Carry On by Brookstone – its full name – serves savvy travelers the “best brands in travel gear” including clothing by Craghoppers, Victorinox, and Scottevest, as well luggage by Brics and Briggs & Riley, wallets by Belroy, and packs by Ogio.

Brookstone created Carry On because it recognises that travellers want to make their often-taxing journeys easier.

“Whether you’re traveling for business, pleasure or adventure, Carry On by Brookstone has smart, innovative items to make your trip more successful,” said CEO Tom Via.

“The clothing you find will be packable and travel-friendly. It will also be on-trend and weather-smart.

“Our luggage, packs and wallets are simply beautiful, and aren’t readily available at most airport retailers. Our goal is to make Carry On an easy and exciting stop with an element of surprise for every traveler’s journey,” said Via.

Founded in 1965, Brookstone is a US-based developer and retailer of gadgets, with 218 Brookstone-branded stores in shopping malls and airports across the US and Puerto Rico, as well the eCommerce site Brookstone.com.

The company recently opened its first store in Mainland China. At the time it said it planned more stores in airports and railway stations across China.
