Wine service app BottlesXO Singapore-bound

A wine delivery service via app, founded by a Shanghai-based German, has just launched in Hong Kong. Next stop is Singapore.

Using Paypal for payments, BottlesXO aims to deliver orders to customers in less than 60 minutes.

When Mischa Schulze moved to Shanghai in January 2014, he struggled to find good wine at a reasonable price, so decided to cater for the growing demand in the city for everyday wine by launching BottlesXO, which he says will be introduced in Singapore later this year.

“We personally travel to Europe to discover vineyards,” says the company’s website. “We taste the grapes, talk to the owners and try to understand their story and practices. Finally, we select only the wineries that meet our standards of quality and good ethics.”

Information on each wine carried by BottlesXO is provided on the app, with a full description, history, tasting notes and suggested food pairings.

“We ordered three bottles of whites and… received the wine in 15 minutes chilled and ready to drink,” says a review on Butterboom.com in Hong Kong.

“We have to say the delivery time is amazing and we are very excited about this app. Whenever you want a bottle of wine, whether you are entertaining at home or at a beach or having a barbecue at your rooftop, you can have wine (any number of bottles, no minimum order) delivered in less than an hour.”

Wine deliveries are available every day, in the afternoon and up until midnight.

“Our challenge is to only bring wines that rank top in their categories,” says the BottlesXO website.

“Our elaborately selected range of wines takes into consideration the local tastes, climates and regional characteristics of our consumers.”
