Lane Crawford Joyce names new vice chair

Balbina Wong has been named honorary vice chairman of the Lane Crawford Joyce Group, effective February 1.
Wong will retire from her role as vice chairman and CEO of ImagineX and Walton Brown, after 15 years but will continue to oversee ImagineX’s joint venture with Salvatore Ferragamo, which she was instrumental in creating, while advising on strategic initiatives for the group.
Wong has held various top management positions within the group over the past 30 years, establishing long-term brand partnerships and playing “a crucial role” in building the group’s position in China, said Jennifer Woo, chairman and CEO of The Lane Crawford Joyce Group.
“A pioneer of the luxury market in the region, Ms Wong founded China’s leading retail, brand management and distribution company ImagineX Group in 1992, and was the first to introduce international brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Gucci, Prada and Cartier to the market.” From 1994 to 2003 Wong also served as the president of iconic, luxury department store Lane Crawford.
Over the past decade Wong has built the ImagineX business to a portfolio of 22 international brands under distribution, with more than 400 points of sale across 53 cities in China and Southeast Asia, and has created a full-service retail management platform Walton Brown offering multi-channel distribution for large-scale international brands in the contemporary sector.
“During her tenure, Ms Wong has built and nurtured a talented team of brand management and retail specialists, and the group’s next generation of management who now take the mantle: Thomson Cheng, president of Walton Brown, and Alice Wong, president of ImagineX,” said Woo.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Ms. Wong for her extraordinary contribution and commitment to the group to date and wish her the very best in her new role.”
