Protein shakes recall over salmonella fear

Two Hong Kong retailers have been found selling products under recall, suspected to be contaminated with salmonella.
A preliminary investigation by officers of the Centre for Food Safety (CFS) found some vendors in Causeway Bay selling the suspect products – four flavours of Raw Meal Organic Shake & Meal Replacement (chocolate, original, vanilla and vanilla chai) produced by Garden of Life in the US.
A further inspection found that JustGreen Organic Convenience Store and Redwood Nutrition House had sold the incriminated products. The CFS says the vendors have advised that they have stopped selling the items and removed them from the shelves.
Hotlines have been set up for both businesses so consumers can inquire about the recall.
A CFS spokesman says it alerted the public and trade of the possible contamination of the products after receiving notification from the US Food & Drug Administration.
The CFS says it is continuing to follow up on the incident.
