Food inflation was up overall by 0.7 per cent because of non-cooked food items being more expensive, such as fish and seafood, meat and fruit. The costs of hawker meals and restaurant food also rose slightly.
Overall, retail items rose by 0.4 per cent in price, mainly because of clothing and footwear being more expensive.
Core inflation edged up to 0.4 per cent last month, mainly because of the food and retail increases.
