New department store for Shenyang

Department store operator Lifestyle International has opened its fourth department store in China.

The company has opened Jiuguang department store in Shenyang which it says, with its Jiuguang department store in Dalian which opened in 2009, will help it strengthen its foothold in the affluent Northeast China.

Lifestyle International made inroads into China by opening its first Jiuguang store in Shanghai in 2004 and the Suzhou Jiuguang in 2009.

Shenyang is the largest central city in the Northeast China and one of the sub-provincial cities of China with rapid economic development and huge potential.

Lifestyle says the new store has a gross floor area of approximately 120,000 sqm, with four above-ground levels and three more underground.

The first basement floor is food and home to Freshmart, Yamazaki Bakery and the first Coco Curry House in Shenyang. The first three floors above ground focuses on fashion brands including Coach, Michael Kors, Longchamp, Cole Haan, Kate Spade, Aquascutum, Cerruti 1881, Kent & Curwen, Lloyd, Tumi, Samsonite (Black Brand), Piquadro and Dupont and so on while the fourth floor above ground will be for catering and restaurants.

“The opening of Shenyang Jiuguang once again underlines the success of Lifestyle International’s unique business model. We believe Shenyang Jiuguang will be yet another success story given the growing affluence in Northeast China,” said Thomas Lau, CEO and MD of Lifestyle International.

Besides Jiuguang brand, Lifestyle International also operates Sogo department stores in Hong Kong. The company says it plans further investments in China.
