Victoria Beckham Hong Kong boutique opens

The Victoria Beckham Hong Kong boutique has opened its doors at the Landmark shopping centre in Central, the former Posh Spice’s first store outside London.

Beckham was on hand on Friday for the store’s formal opening. It is her second retail store and like the first was designed by London-based Farshid Moussavi.

Victoria Beckham has been selling her clothing in the territory for some time, online and through the upmarket Joyce department store, which has partnered with her in the new standalone boutique.

The former Spice Girl turned fashion designer chose Hong Kong for her first overseas store because she believes Asian women embrace fashion.

“I know Asian women really understand luxury, good quality and appreciate when garments are made well – and my clothes are,” she said in an interview with the South China Morning Post.

Earlier, she said her store will cater for every level of shopper – it will not be an exclusive designer boutique.

“I’ve always wanted people to be able to come to the store, whether it was just to browse, look at the architecture, buy a key ring or a full runway look. I have the most phenomenal shop staff.”

Beckham has two ranges: The original Victoria Beckham collection and VVB, a newer sister range she is now expanding.

“The VVB collection actually merged with denim this season for the first time as a result of really listening to my customer and understanding that the two categories belong together.”

The range is grounded in ‘wearable luxury’, including denim jeans, dresses, tailored shirts and accessories.
