Hong Kong Gifts Fair draws 4200 exhibitors

More than 4200 exhibitors from 33 countries and regions will feature in the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, the world’s largest event of its type, from April 27 to 30.
At the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA).
A focus of the exhibition this year will be green and energy-saving products.
Returning to the fair, Green & Associates (Hong Kong) has been making green gifts since 2005. It will be showcasing novel “upcycled” products made from food waste such as coffee grounds, eggshell and tea grounds.
Another Hong Kong exhibitor, Eco Concepts, will spotlight Genie Kitchen Garden by Finnish designer Sebastian Jansson, a gadget for fast-growing gardens that won a design award in the US.
Traditional products will feature in the Chinese mainland pavilion, including porcelain products from Jingdezhen Ceramics, embroidery fashion elements from Miyilu Ethnic Garment of Yunnan, and 3D relief handmade soaps from Nanjing Creative Design Center,
About 130 brands will feature in the Hall of Fine Designs, plus several product zones will be introduced, such as Art & DIY Gifts, BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag), Photographic & Camera Accessories and Trophies & Medals.
A new pavilion, established by the HKEA, will showcase about 150 Hong Kong exporters. There are two major feature zones: Isle of Originality and Smart Design Village. Also organised by the HKEA, The Hong Kong Smart Gifts Design Awards are aimed at fostering creativity and innovation. Winning pieces will be displayed at the fair, with an award presentation ceremony on April 27.
Seminars and forums during the fair will cover such topics as business opportunities, gift trends, the US retail scene and cross-border eCommerce strategy. Speakers include representatives from Sears from the US and A S Watson Group from Hong Kong.
The concurrent eleventh edition of the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair will take place at AsiaWorld-Expo, with a free shuttle bus running between the two shows.
