Toms’ founder heads to Hong Kong

US concept retailer Toms’ founder Blake Mycoskie is coming to Hong Kong next month to take part in celebrations for the brand’s 10th anniversary.
Based in Playa Del Rey, California, the company started out selling shoes with a business model that helps needy children.
Mycoskie founded the company after meeting children without shoes in Argentina, and came up with the “one for one” concept, whereby for every pair of shoes he sold, a pair would be given to a child in need.
Now the concept has extended to sunglasses, bags and even coffee, with sales respectively helping restore sight to the visually impaired, ensure a safe birth for a mother and baby, and provide jobs and clean water in developing countries.
Mycoskie will appear at an afternoon of barefoot yoga, music and a “Style your Sole” workshop at The Courtyard, PMQ, in Central, Hong Kong, on April 2. The event is free to attend, and there will be a special gift for everyone.
