Gautier Asia set to expand

French furniture maker Gautier has revealed two more markets after its debut in the Philippines and Korea.

Blims Lifestyle Group, a leading furniture distributor in the Philippines, has brought French furniture maker Gautier into the country, opening the first store in Shangri-La Hotel at BGC in Taguig. It is Gautier Asia’s second market after South Korea.

And Gautier Asia’s next stops are Singapore and Indonesia, according to David Soulard, Guatier France CEO, who was in Manila for the launch at BGC.

Gautier is the fifth of Blims Lifestyles’ concept stores. Others include ready-to-use and ready-to-deliver furniture grounded in convenience and practicality.

Gautier considers the Philippines a rising opportunity as more and more Filipino families move into the upper segment of the furniture market, given their rising incomes and better opportunities in an expanding economy.

It took Blims Lifestyle a year to persuade the French furniture maker to open its first store in the Philippines, said Blims’ Gautier Philippines GM Katrina Samantha Lim.

“This is [Blims’] first time to venture into the high-end market. Blims Lifestyle has a defined customer base and we are very confident that this new concept will have its own following soon,” said Lim.

Gautier, which started as a manufacturer of children’s furniture, was the first French furniture manufacturer to have obtained triple QSE (quality safety and environment) certification. Its pieces range from utilitarian living room ensembles to dining sets and even office staples.
