Parknshop IT glitch closes stores

An electronic cashier system problem closed Hong Kong’s Parknshop stores for up to six hours on Friday.
An “important notice” on the supermarket chain’s website that morning said in-store services were temporarily delayed. A sign outside stores read: “The shop has suspended services due to the computer breakdown.”
Online shopping was not affected.
A staff member said the glitch happened as the stores’ computer system implemented a regular update of its discounted goods. All brands under the chain were affected, including Express, Fusion, Gourmet, International by Parknshop and Taste. The chain has more than 289 stores across Hong Kong.
All stores were back in business by 2pm.
