Changi Airport Group’s anchor retail promotion Be a Changi Millionaire has returned for its seventh edition, but this time offers online participation to make it easier to enter.
Larger-than-life fun installations around the airport’s terminals draw attention to the annual shopping promotion which, with its S$1 million (US$737,536) grand prize, offers the largest cash reward of any retail draw in Singapore.
Shoppers have until October 31 to enter, and can also visit four event sites around the airport for photo opportunities with installations featuring giant food and shopping items such as a burger, a bowl of prawn noodles and a handbag.
Shoppers and diners no longer need to submit their entries at the event sites at the airport. They can now register online.
To participate, airport visitors and passengers need to spend a minimum of S$50. One lucky finalist will be picked each month from now until October to be entered into the grand draw.
As well as a seventh finalist picked from iShopChangi shoppers, introduced last year, an eighth finalist will be picked from Changi Rewards Platinum card participants this year.
The number of winning chances increases exponentially with the amount spent – a $50 spend gives a shopper one chance at the draw, while shoppers spending $500 have 100 chances.
Travellers who shop on iShopChangi, the airport’s eCommerce portal, and Platinum members of the Changi Rewards loyalty program receive double chances.
Last year’s promotion attracted nearly 2 million entries from 229 nationalities, more than double the number of the inaugural run in 2010. Since its launch, six airport shoppers have realised their million-dollar dreams, including Singaporeans Ivan Rantung and Peh Hock Peng, Australian Jessica Down, Indonesian Irvung Tio, Japanese Seiichiro Oiyama and Irish Linda Tobin.
For this year’s Grand Draw, the eight finalists will each be given a three-night hotel stay in Singapore. While the winner bags $1 million, the other finalists will each take home $5000.
