New SMS parcel service from Hongkong Post

Hongkong Post has launched a new mail concept that sends out SMS notifications when a parcel is ready for collection at a post office or iPostal Station locker.
It’s part of a growing focus on parcel deliveries as traditional mail volumes fall and eCommerce drives growing package numbers.
People can use the service by registering online for a mail collection number (MCN), and specify a post office or iPostal Station where they would like to pick up their package.
Applicants are given an MCN and subcode for their collection preference. These codes need to be passed on to anyone mailing them items for inclusion in the address. When the items arrive at the selected iPostal Station or post office, the recipient will receive an SMS notification with a collection passcode.
For post office counter collection and iPostal Stations, the service covers packets sent as local ordinary mail or international ordinary mail, local and international parcels, Smart Post packets and EMS.
Registered mail can be collected at post office counters only.
There are six iPostal Stations throughout the territory, and Hongkong Post plans to extend the service to more locations.
