JD.com sales soar 47 per cent

Chinese eCommerce company JD.com has reported a 47 per cent rise in first-quarter revenue.
The company says it expects revenue for the second quarter to be between 64.2 billion yuan (US$9.9 billion) and 66.2 billion yuan, a growth rate of 40 to 44 per cent. The amount of goods sold on JD.com’s platforms rose 55 per cent to 129.3 billion yuan.
However, the directors of the Beijing-based company say China’s slowing economic growth is a potential concern.
JD.com sales growth slowed to 6.7 per cent in the first quarter, the weakest since the global financial crisis.
Net revenue rose to 53.97 billion yuan in the first quarter, from 36.64 billion yuan a year earlier.
