Montreux Jazz Cafe Singapore opening in October

Contemporary cuisine and intimate live performances by local and international artists will feature at the Montreux Jazz Cafe, opening in Singapore in October.

The cafe is promising an expansive musical showcase inspired by the Montreux Jazz Festival, grounded in jazz and blues while embracing improvisation and experimentation in different genres, including rock, pop and hip-hop.

Located inside Pan Pacific Orchard, the venue will be able to accommodate up to 500 guests and will also offer upscale dining as well as private evenings and jam sessions.

“Montreux Jazz Cafe Singapore will become the crown jewel of live-music royalty as the only venue of its kind in Asia,” says Montreux Jazz Festival director Mathieu Jaton. “Our cafes are ambassadors for the festival, and Singapore joins the likes of Zurich, Paris and Abu Dhabi as a world leader in jazz-inspired music and upscale dining.”

“We believe the opening of the Montreux Jazz Cafe in Singapore will undoubtedly be received enthusiastically by a wide and diverse audience from around the region who not only enjoy live music, but are looking for experiential entertainment and dining,” says Swiss ambassador Thomas Kupfer.

As well as musical performances, the cafe is known for such menu items as the BB Burger, Coquelet façon Quincy Jones and Ella’s Cheesecake.

Every concert of the festival has been recorded – recognised by UNESCO by being included in the Memory of the World Register – and all recordings will be available at the new cafe.

Trained as a chef, festival founder Claude Nobs launched the Montreux Jazz Cafe in 2008.

The 50th anniversary edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival will be by Lake Geneva from July 1 to 16, featuring such talents as Jean-Michel Jarre, Muse, Neil Young, Patti Smith, PJ Harvey and Christian Scott.
