Bankcard develops YouJiHua marketing platform

UnionPay International and its first partners have jointly launched YouJiHua, the world’s first open cross-border marketing platform developed by a bankcard scheme.
An opening ceremony was attended by China UnionPay chairman Ge Huayong, UnionPay International CEO Cai Jianbo, and leaders of the Bank of China, China Merchants Bank, CYTS, Ctrip, Spring Airlines, SaSa Hong Kong, Prince Jewellery & Watch, Lukfook Jewellery and ISA.
YouJiHua brings together cross-border service providers in the fields of finance, travel and retail, offering positioning, accurate marketing and instant discounts for the first time in the cross-border sector.
There are two benefits for cardholders using YouJiHua – a QR code discount coupon gained by exploring “YouJiHua Gift” in the mobile apps of UnionPay International, Bank of China and China Merchants Bank; and discount coupons promoted by the apps of partner travel agencies when booking airlines and hotels. Cardholders receive the highest discount available at the merchant when presenting the QR code and paying with a UnionPay card.
YouJiHua is based on UnionPay International’s three global marketing programs, and develops a new business model by bringing issuers, acquirers, travel agencies and merchants into the same industry chain.
Ge Huayong  describes the venture as a “win-win co-operation” sharing growth. It also meets cardholder demand for new payment options. “We will go on developing a cross-border payment service eco-system from which all partners will benefit.”
On the same day, UnionPay International launched two global marketing programs – “100 global airport duty-free shops” and “50 selected travel destinations”. These offer cardholders up to 10 per cent discount at more than 100 duty-free shops in about 90 airports globally. From July 15 to October 15, discounts of up to 15 per cent are offered at 300-plus merchants in 50 travel destinations.
