Second Cafe&Meal Muji for Singapore

Japanese lifestyle brand Muji will open its second Cafe&Meal Muji for Singapore, in Raffles City on July 28.

As well as the established favourites of its first cafe at Paragon, such as butter chicken curry with rice, new dishes like donburi will be introduced at the bigger, new outlet, says Muji Singapore and Malaysia MD Takuo Nagahara.

He says Muji’s Singapore flagship store is about one to two years away, and meanwhile the brand is looking at improvements to attract consumers, especially younger ones. For instance, its Ion Orchard outlet will close from August 1 before reopening on September 22 with a new look.

Muji has also held workshops and launched concepts such as the made-to-order fabric and furniture service, as well as consultation services for interior refurbishments.

New products, including Muji bicycles and the Found Muji collection led by industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa, will be available in time too.

To adjust to Singaporean tastebuds, tweaks are made every three months to Cafe&Meal Muji. For example, it combined three flavours to create the matcha cheesecake with black sesame ice cream, and has introduced alcohol.
