Little Creatures craft brewery opens in Kennedy Town

Australia-based Lion has opened Little Creatures craft brewery in Hong Kong, its first outlet outside Australia and the beginning of a push into broader Asia.
Located in Kennedy Town, Little Creatures offers “genuine Australian craft beer and cuisine”, with a microbrewery supplying fresh beers to craft beer enthusiasts, according to MD of Lion global markets, Matt Tapper.
“Little Creatures is acclaimed as one of the best in the Australian craft brewery industry, and it will add a quality brand to the craft beer scene in Hong Kong,” he said.

“This is an excellent time to increase our investment and focus overseas. Australasian provenance is key. Consumers in Asia are looking for quality products with genuine credentials and we offer a portfolio of high-quality products with great heritage and authenticity.
“The Australian dollar has structurally declined. Free trade agreements with major Asian economies provide Australian companies better access to these markets, while an Asian middle class is emerging with an appetite to try new things,” said Tapper.
Associate director-general of investment promotion Dr Jimmy Chiang of InvestHK, said craft beer is popular in Hong Kong and many foreign and local players have already set up a presence to cater to the growing demand among local customers and visitors in Hong Kong.
“We hope Little Creatures can seize the opportunities and wish them every success in the city.”
Little Creatures opened in 2000 in Fremantle, Western Australia. Since then it has expanded to six locations throughout Australia.
