Rent-a-Pop parcel service launches

Singapore Post (SingPost) has launched the first nationwide open parcel locker service, Rent-a-Pop.

This enables consumers and retailers such as blogshop owners and marketplace sellers to rent a PopStation locker to deliver their parcels 24/7. This addresses the gap in the market for cost-effective delivery options with end-to-end tracking.

A marketplace seller can rent a PopStation locker at a location agreed with the buyer. The buyer will be notified when the parcel is ready for collection.

POPStation

There are about 140 PopStations locations across Singapore, including commercial and neighbourhood areas such as shopping complexes, community centres and clubs, post offices and tertiary institutions.

“Rent-a-Pop continues to revolutionise last-mile delivery for the growing eCommerce industry,” says SingPost executive Lim Ann Nee.

Before the Rent-a-Pop launch, SingPost ran a one-month trial with online marketplaces and blogshops. The trial showed that about half of the parcels were delivered outside of office hours. There was a 100 per cent collection rate, with almost 90 per cent of the parcels being collected the next day.

SingPost has centrally controlled systems and surveillance cameras that enable all parcels to be tracked.

Users receive a unique one-time PIN and QR code that ensures only intended users can access the PopStation locker. Users also have access to 24/7 customer-care support.
