Chubb Insurance China has launched an innovative personal accident insurance benefit for retailer Suning’s customers.

Customers who buy an extended warranty program from Suning for a home appliance or electronic device will automatically receive up to RMB1 million (US$150,000) in Suning insurance protection, payable should they be injured by the item. This enhanced protection is an add-on to Suning’s extended warranty program.

The offering is being rolled out nationally, starting with Shanghai and six cities in Jiangsu province. This will be expanded to the other regions of Suning’s nationwide network, including online and offline product channels and retail outlets.

“This is the first of what we expect will be many significant insurance product offerings for Suning’s 130 million registered members under a preferred provider distribution agreement,” says Chubb chairman Zhang Bei.
