Fans queue outside Kanye West pop-up

Kayne West store pop upSingapore fans queued for hours to be first to visit the Singapore Kanye West pop-up store last weekend.

The store was one of 21 stores around the world that the pop star opened over the weekend, selling merchandise relating to his album The Life of Pablo.

West revealed the city locations of the 21 pop-ups via Twitter on Wednesday, but declined to provide an address until 24 hours before. It did not take long for word to spread of the short term opportunity and by the time the Singapore store opened inside Suntec Tower 1 on Friday morning, a queue had formed outside. The first were on site at 2am and the queue stretched to 300 at one point, with only 20 people allowed in-store at once.

Singapore and Australia were the only Asia-Pacific locations for the pop-up stores, which closed Sunday night. The 21 stores followed reports that West sold more than $1 million worth of merchandise at a New York pop-up earlier this year.

Clothing such as hoodies had the participating 21 cities’ names spelt out on them in gothic script.
