Pagoda greengrocer ventures into Taiwan

Expanding out of the mainland, China’s Pagoda greengrocer has opened its first store in Taiwan.

It is also the first Chinese fruit grocery store to open in Taiwan. It is in the Dali district of Taichung, an industrial city on the central western coast of Taiwan with a population of 2.7 million people.

Pagoda says it has long wanted to open a store in Taiwan, and hopes to build relationships with local fruit businesses, and to develop the country’s fruit retail market.

Chairman/co-founder Yu Huiyong says there is both an opportunity and a challenge in developing the chainstore format in Taiwan.
