K-Pop stars to launch Korea Sale Festa 2016
High-profile K-Pop stars including 2PM, Shinee and Sistar have been brought in for the opening ceremony to launch South Korea’s biggest shopping festival, Korea Sale Festa 2016.
The retail promotion’s launch will be held in Seoul next month, along with various concerts and exhibitions to draw more visitors and shoppers from overseas, according to the trade ministry.
The launch will take place on Yeongdong Daero (Boulevard) in southern Seoul from September 30 to October 3 to mark the kickoff of Korea Sale Festa 2016 that runs nationwide until October 31.
The opening event will be broadcast live by the Korea Broadcasting System.
The opening ceremony will also involve various events under six themes – K-Brand, K-Beauty, K-Fashion, K-Food, K-Culture and K-Tour – which offer bargain sale events, food sampling parties, makeup shows, Korean traditional performances and tourism showcases for both domestic and foreign shoppers.
Korea Sale Festa 2016 has been arranged by the government in order to fuel domestic consumption and draw more foreign shoppers. Local manufacturers and retailers in fields like home appliances, cosmetics, clothing and food will join the shopping sections to provide bargain deals.
This year’s festival was rebranded from last year’s Korea Black Friday, which played a big role in boosting domestic demand and propping up Asia’s fourth-largest economy.
