Select Group opens 500th store for Cajun Global

Select Group, the franchisee for Texas Chicken in Singapore, has opened a restaurant at Resorts World Sentosa – the 500th international location for US chicken chain Cajun Global.

Holding the franchise since 2010, Select Group founder/MD Vincent Tan has opened 13 outlets in Singapore.

Also the franchisor for Church’s Chicken, Cajun Global first entered the international market in 1979, in Canada. Today, the Church’s Chicken and Texas Chicken brands are in 24 countries, with Asia-Pacific the fastest growing region.

“We have a proven expansion strategy of identifying the best franchisees and selecting the best markets for growth,” says Texas Chicken/Church’s Chicken executive VP of international business and global development Tony Moralejo.

Asia has quickly expanded from a one-country business in Indonesia for Cajun Global to eight countries, with the most aggressive growth in Malaysia and Thailand. Texas Chicken entered the Malaysia market in 2013, with its 30th restaurant about to open. There are plans to open a new restaurant every four to six weeks.

Texas Chicken already has six restaurants since launching in Thailand in November.

This year Cajun Global is opening Texas Chicken restaurants in four new countries, including Laos. It plans to open 65 restaurants internationally next year.

Cajun Global was founded in San Antonio, Texas, in 1952 by George Church. It now has more than 1650 locations in 25 countries.
