Bake Singapore opening second store

With the success of its first outlet, which drew three-hour-long queues when it opened in Ion Orchard, Japanese company Bake will open its second cheese-tart store at Westgate next week..

When Bake Singapore debuted, lcoals reportedly formed a queue two hours before the flagship opened for business. The outlet sold 6000 tarts every day, the equivalent of eight tarts a minute.

Described as having a crumbly crust with a cheese mousse that is not too sweet, the tarts are made in Hokkaido and flown to Singapore, where they are baked in store.

Queues are also not unusual at the company’s seven other stores in Asia (Bangkok, Hong Kong and Seoul). There are 14 outlets in Japan.

For the first week at Westgate, the first 50 Bake customers each day who buy 12 tarts will receive a Bake tote bag.
