In an exclusive partnership, Christian Louboutin Beaute has opened its first Hong Kong counter in Lane Crawford at IFC Mall in Central.
It features a luxury interior with embellished furniture, jewel-like visual merchandising for its nail polishes and lipsticks, and special detailing.
The designer has about 400 points of sale worldwide, as well as 131 stand-alone Christian Louboutin boutiques, with plans to add a further 12 next year.
Born in Paris to a cabinetmaker and a housewife, Louboutin’s first real job, at 16, was working backstage at the Folies Bergère. He then became a design assistant at the Charles Jourdan shoe company and went on to freelance for Maud Frizon and Chanel.
After a change of pace as a landscaper, he opened his own shoe store in 1992, soon expanding to New York, Los Angeles, London, Moscow and Hong Kong.
Louboutin formed a JV in 2012 with Batallure Beauty to develop nail polishes (he created his famous red shoe sole in 1993 by painting the bottom of a shoe with red nail polish). Christian Louboutin Beaute launched in 2013 and now has 31 colours of nail polish and 45 hues of lipsticks.
