At Spiga, Michelin star chef brings Italy to Central

A two Michelin star chef from Italy is about to open his first eatery outside his homeland in Hong Kong’s Central.
Spiga will be positioned as a tribute to Italian cuisine by chef Enrico Bartolini when it opens at 31 Queen’s Rd in November.
The setting will feature a cinematic 1950s Italian interior design created by Joyce Wang Studio that captures the romance and intrigue of vintage Italy.
Born in Tuscany but heavily influenced by the North East, Bartolini perfectly merges the cooking styles of Lombardy and Piedmont to bring out the authentic flavours of Italy. Famously known to create top-notch contemporary classic cuisine, Bartolini draws inspiration from the past but is firmly rooted in the present with perfectly executed dishes for Spiga. Bartolini is famous for his restaurants in Milan, Bergamo and Castiglione della Pescaia.
Designer Joyce Wang introduces interiors that “bring out the playful, yet decidedly sophisticated side of Italian dining”.
The restaurant’s 128 seat interior is divided into thematic areas that conjure Italy’s vernacular landscape of piazzas, olive gardens and urban train stations while celebrating the height of vintage 1950s Italian aesthetic culture. With warm cognac, olive green and brown tones splashed from the terrazzo stone floors to the ceilings, 60 pieces of vintage lighting and iconic furniture sourced from around the world; Spiga’s interiors will introduce guests to a different Italy on each visit.
