ShopandBox launches app

The fast-growing personalised peer-to-peer cross-border shopping concept ShopandBox has launched an app to make it even easier for its growing membership base to locate and ship goods.

Founded just three years ago, ShopandBox already boasts more than 100 personal shoppers (or Boxers as they are called) located in about 30 countries who have located, bought and shipped more than 75,000 items to 30,000 shoppers across 146 countries.

Unlike existing freight forwarding services, ShopandBox delivers a completely personalised service from start to finish. Boxers do not mark up the cost of items and simply collect a nominal service fee of 10 per cent to 14 per cent (depending on the cost of items) as compensation for their time and effort. Boxers are happy to shop across multiple stores and give real-time updates on product availability and pricing. They also recommend items and provide access to limited edition items and sales that shoppers would otherwise not be able to enjoy.

The brainchild of Melbourne-based, Singaporean husband-and-wife team, Xin-lung Tai and Rebecca Chia, ShopandBox is one of the new generation peer-to-peer online or tech-based businesses attracting attention around the world for its Uber-like disruption of traditional commerce models.

The new app is available for both Apple and Android platforms.

Chia says ShopandBox is unique, providing shoppers with a fun and easy way to buy items that are either not available in the country they are based at, or are available but at a much higher price. It’s a service particularly popular with those seeking limited edition items launched in only a few markets.

Chia says ShopandBox Boxers are experts in what’s trending and they are seasoned at beating the queues to get the desired items.

The personal shopping platform carefully matches Shoppers with Boxers who share the former’s interests to provide a completely personalised shopping experience. It also presents the opportunity for shoppers to interact directly and form a real connection with a Boxer based in the country they would like to shop from.

“Our shoppers are constantly building bonds with their Boxers whom they trust to find and buy them what they want, to make it a win-win situation.”

As part of the service, Boxers will check, photograph and repackage the shopper’s items so that they get the most value from their international shipping fee. An exclusive partnership with DHL Express ensures that ShopandBox offers international door-to-door service in up to three days with the lowest international shipping rates. Currently, the majority of ShopandBox Shoppers are from Australia, Singapore, the UK, Malaysia, Brunei, Middle Eastern Countries, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands. They are most frequently shopping with the help of Boxers from the US, the UK, France, Japan and Korea.
