Massive LED screen for Sogo Department Store

Hong Kong’s largest high-resolution full-HD LED screen is about to be installed on the facade of Sogo Department Store in Causeway Bay.
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in Tokyo says it has received an order from Sogo Hong Kong to install a Diamond Vision screen measuring more than 72 metres by 19 metres, equivalent to more than five tennis courts. Installation will start in the next week or so with the screen expected to be commissioned on Chinese National Day, October 1.
It replaces the store’s static mega-billboard and will have 50 per cent higher contrast than conventional screens, allowing it to be easily viewed from side angles or close up in sunshine.
Sogo Hong Kong store manager Shinji Sawada says the screen will face one of the busiest intersections in the world. The city’s largest department store, owned by Lifestyle International Holdings, has been a retail landmark since 1985.
Mitsubishi Electric has installed Diamond Vision screens in more than 950 locations worldwide, including Tokyo Dome and Times Square in New York.
