RDM Asia opens discount boutique at KC100

KC100Italian company RDM Asia, which runs three luxury discount Florentia Village malls in Mainland China, has opened a boutique in Hong Kong.

RDM Asia MD Maurizio Lupi says the 60,000 sqft (5574 sqm) outlet store features such brands as Kenzo, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo and Versace. The company has chosen the KC100 complex near the Kwai Hing MTR station, which Lupi says will benefit from its proximity to mainland immigration checkpoints and Hong Kong airport.

He is targeting 500,000 customers this year, half of which will be mainlanders, a quarter Hong Kong residents, and a quarter travellers from other locations and expatriates.

“Our brand is growing fast in China, so having the same type of operation in a different approach with a very strong mix of luxury brands, we are sure to attract customers from China visiting Hong Kong,” he says.

The outlet has the capacity to be expanded, says Lupi, who plays down the fact that mainland travellers to Hong Kong have been declining sharply.

Meanwhile, he expects its mainland malls will produce double-digit turnover growth this year.
