Deliveroo Hong Kong delivering growth

Marking four years in business, on-demand food-delivery company Deliveroo Hong Kong has revealed figures showing how it is helping restaurants win customers and generate more revenue.
Deliveroo now has more than 1500 restaurant partners across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, many reporting sustained growth in meal orders driven by Deliveroo to the point they have had to hire more staff and open new premises.
Its partners include chains like Bafang Yunji and PizzaExpress as well as independent outlets such as Tei Mou Koon and Wang Fu. Deliveroo Hong Kong says it expects to see the number of its partners more than double this year, predicting that more than 3500 restaurants will partner with it by the end of the year.
Internal data covering all Deliveroo orders in Hong Kong last year shows that one of the key trends driving this growth is that customers are embracing the idea a takeaway is not just for Friday nights. Last year, 13 per cent of monthly orders shifted toward Monday to Thursday compared to the previous year. This prompted the company to launch Deliveroo for Business in September, a platform designed to simplify the process for companies ordering food for employees.
Deliveroo Hong Kong data has also mapped a consumer shift to a healthier lifestyle. with orders from restaurants tagged “healthy” more than doubling. These restaurants make up 10 per cent of the options on the platform, led by Mana!, Passion by Gerard Dubois and Pololi.

“As Deliveroo celebrates a milestone anniversary of four years since launching in London, we are proud to be the local market leader since we brought the platform to the city at the end of 2015,” says Deliveroo Hong Kong GM Brian Lo.


He says the company has recorded consistent double-digit month-on-month growth, with more than 78 per cent of its restaurants using the delivery service exclusively.
“One of our biggest priorities is helping local entrepreneurs and chefs grow their business,” says Lo. “By partnering with Deliveroo, they can leverage their excess kitchen capacity and existing locations to generate revenue increases of up to 20 or 30 per cent.”
Deliveroo Hong Kong has helped to create more than 500 jobs in the market and is launching in new zones this year.
