SME e-marketplace launches on Lazada Singapore

Telecommunications company Singtel has partnered shopping website Lazada Singapore to launch the ‘99% SME e-marketplace’.

The Lazada.SG portal is for SMEs to advertise and tap into a wide customer base – a first in Singapore to support SMEs in the e-commerce market.

Singtel’s CEO of group enterprise Bill Chang says SMEs can join the e-marketplace at no charge to better scale their businesses. “This is in line with the Committee on the Future Economy’s call to help SMEs adopt digital technologies.”

The committee has recommended that SMEs, which form 99 per cent of registered companies in Singapore, be provided expertise and financing support to help them adopt digital technologies. To this end, Singtel has been training SMEs to establish an online presence and take up digital marketing.

Lazada Singapore CEO Alexis Lanternier says the marketplace wants to equip its sellers with the best tools to help them succeed. “Sellers who advertise will be able to reach more than 3.5 million visitors monthly.”

Singtel, together with DBS bank and other partners, launched the inaugural 99% SME campaign in 2015, its highlight being the annual SME Week in October when participating SMEs make special offers for customers.
