Singapore Angel Network backs Indian food startup IOrderFresh

Indian organic food startup IOrderFresh has received an undisclosed amount of funding from the Singapore Angel Network (SGAN), the investment arm of the Thakral Group of Companies.

SGAN CEO Satveer Singh Thakral says the company is excited about the partnership with iOrderFresh given its differentiated positioning and superior product platform.

“We feel that the B2B space holds great potential, and will help the company optimise costs in order to be profitable by June.”

As well as organic produce, such as fruit, vegetables and pulses, IOrderFresh even offers baked products online.

Launched in December 2014 by Nitin Sawhney and Abhishek Sharma, the company has an Android and IOS app which customers across Delhi-NCR can use to place orders. The minimum order delivery time is 24 hours. Users can even pre-schedule their order for up to 30 days.

IOrderFresh procures produce directly from farmers and mandis (rural agricultural markets). CEO Sharma says the company was launched with a vision to provide natural food handpicked from farms and local producers.

“Over the past two years we have diversified our business model to emerge as an exclusive platform for artisan brands and home chefs. We are largely focussed on unit economics and are already profitable at the delivery level.”
