Takeaway service for HungryGoWhere Singapore

Website HungryGoWhere Singapore will launch a food takeaway service next month, taking online orders for self-collection from about 50 establishments.

A pioneer for online food reviews and restaurant reservations, HungryGoWhere Singapore ventured into the food-delivery market in January, tying up with Foodpanda and covering about 1100 restaurants.

HungryGoWhere Singapore CEO Frank Young says these initiatives will also be launched on HungryGoWhere Malaysia next year.

While the delivery option is on the HungryGoWhere website, the technology behind it is run by Foodpanda. Users simply key in their postal code to see a list of pertinent restaurants. Payment is then made online, with delivery time and fees varying by restaurant.

Similarly, for the takeaway option users order and pay online, choosing their preferred collection time, which can even be the next day.

“Previously they would have to turn up, queue and wait for the food to be prepared. Now it will be more convenient for customers,” says Young.

HungryGoWhere was founded by entrepreneurs Dennis Goh, Tan Yung Yih and Wong Hoong An, and in 2012 was acquired by telecommunications company Singtel for S$12 million (US$8.56 million).
