Downton Abbey experience launching in Singapore

A fully immersive experience based on the award-winning television series Downton Abbey will have its global launch at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands on June 17.

Devised by NBCUniversal International Studios and Imagine Exhibitions, Downton Abbey: The Exhibition promises to take visitors into the world of the Carnival Films’ production with unscreened footage and historic moments.

Next year it will travel throughout the US, followed by other countries.

Downton Abbey has been screened in more than 250 territories over six seasons, and NBCUniversal president Michael Edelstein says the exhibition allows the show’s legacy to live on through a multi-million-dollar museum-quality experience.

As well as offering insights into the world of the Crawleys and those who served them below stairs, the experience will also provide a look at aspects of the post-Edwardian period in which the series is set, spanning World War I and the post-war years to the Roaring 20s.

Carnival Films MD Gareth Neame, executive producer of Downton Abbey, says fans will have the chance to walk through the series’ most recognisable locations, as well as inspect the show’s official costumes worn by the actors including Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville and Dame Maggie Smith.
