Paul & Shark Singapore launches at Marina Bay Sands

Paul & Shark Singapore has officially launched a store at Marina Bay Sands with an opening event at the TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition, also at Marina Bay Sands.

Its stand at the exhibition featured the label’s latest collection and introduced design concepts for its fall/winter collection.

Paul & Shark global travel retail director Catherine Bonelli says the brand achieved 62 points of sale in travel retail last year and is confirmed to reach 70 by the end of this year.

“We have significantly expanded our business in Asia, and customers are truly embracing the made-in-Italy craftsmanship of the brand,” says Bonelli. “We have opened a string of outlets in both airports and downtown duty-free stores, and still see a lot of growth potential in the region.”

She says the brand also sees potential in the cruise-line sector as it expands in the ASPAC region.

“As part of this focus we have partnered with Dufry in the opening this month of a personalised space on the new Norwegian Joy cruise ship.

“Coming up soon is our Personalise Your Button service for the FW collection, which further completes our personalisation service along with the embroidery machine, which has become somewhat of a trademark of the brand.

“Shirts and polos from this collection will include a label tag that invites buyers to visit a special website where they can enter their initials. These will be embroidered on a button cover at no extra cost,” says Bonelli. “It’s a fantastic way of building a database of clients and ensuring that the sale does not stop at the airport, downtown shop or cruise ship.”

Paul & Shark is also showcasing its SS17 and FW17 Sharkflage range, developed in collaboration with South African biologist and shark photographer Chris Fallows. The label has co-opted one of his images to create an exclusive pattern for T-shirts, technical jackets and accessories such as a backpack, baseball cap and surfboard.

Paul & Shark is donating part of the proceeds of the capsule collection to the Dyer Island Conservation Trust. Fallows collaborates with the non-profit organisation on its Great White Shark project.

Part of the Sharkflage range is a special 40th-anniversary edition of the C0P918 water-repellent wool sweater.
