7-Eleven Malaysia launches Lazada payment service

Convenience store chain 7-Eleven Malaysia has launched Lazada Malaysia offline payment services at its stores through a partnership with MolPlay.

Customers can now confirm orders from Lazada and proceed to checkout with 7-Eleven as the preferred payment option. Transactions can be completed by presenting a printed slip or SMS code of the online purchases to a 7-Eleven cashier.

“As Malaysia still has a considerable number of people who do not have digital banking or have limited access to it, this provides the flexibility and ensures all households and businesses have access to Malaysia’s digital economy regardless of their income level,” says MolPlay CEO Eng Sheng Guan.

In particular, the payment service aims to reach customers in non-urban areas such as the east coast and Sabah and Sarawak.

Payment can be made offline, 24 hours and seven days a week.
