Bollore Logistics Singapore has unveiled a plan for a S$10 million (US$7.2 million) automated logistics centre for French luxury products group LVMH.
Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the 20,000 sqm centre will be built as a shared investment between the partners.
“Automation is the key for Singapore’s logistics sector to cope with emerging patterns globally,” says Bollore Logistics Asia Pacific CEO Cyril Dumon. “The setup will be housed in Bollore Logistics Green Hub, our high-tech logistic centre in Pioneer Turn.”
“The close partnership between LVMH and Bollore Logistics has strongly supported the growth of the business in the past 15 years,” says LVMH Asia Pacific supply-chain director Guillaume Mechain. “Introducing automation further reinforces our connections and emphasises our expertise in safety, quality, service and efficiency for the next 10 years.”
Collectively designed by Bollore Logistics, LVMH and systems supplier Dematic, the combination of multi-shuttle system and picking technology is the first of its type to be deployed in the Singapore region. It can prepare e-commerce orders with high accuracy while cutting the time to market.
“This project represents a number of industry firsts both in Singapore and in the region,” says Dematic Southeast Asia director Michael Bradshaw.
One of its featured is to enable higher storage density to make efficient use of Singapore’s limited warehouse space. In terms of productivity, it will achieve throughput levels up to 10 times faster than conventional methods, and will improve order lead-time while halving manpower needs.
Completion is expected in January.
