Fifty Wing Zone diners to open in Philippines

Fifty Wing Zone diners will open in the Philippines after a franchise deal was signed with Viva International Food & Restaurants.

The US-founded fast-casual restaurants will open progressively over the next decade.

Wing Zone’s master franchise in Singapore, JNM Dining Concepts, has signed an agreement with Viva International Food & Restaurants in the Philippines.

Wing Zone co-founder and CEO Matt Friedman launched an international growth strategy after the US economy began to buckle in 2008.

Today, the franchise, known for its flavoured wings and burgers, has more than 100 outlets open or in development across the US, along with diners in Malaysia, Panama and Singapore.

Friedman says that with Viva group’s more than three decades of success, Wing Zone is confident its push into the Philippines will be a “rapid success”.

Viva International Food & Restaurants, which also runs Botejyu Authentic Japanese Restaurant chain and Paper Moon Tokyo Cake Boutique and Cafe as franchisees, plans an initial development of 10 Wing Zone diners, with the first to open in Manila’s SM Megamall next year.

As Wing Zone’s headquarters for Asia, the JNM Dining Concepts training centre in Singapore will provide supply-chain management, vendor management, branding and development strategy for Viva in the Philippines.

Wing Zone was founded at the University of Florida in 1991 by Matt Friedman and Adam Scott. After opening Wing Zones in other colleges across the country, the two started offering franchises in 2000.
