Epicurean Market offering street-food experience

To mark its fifth year, the Marina Bay Sands’ Epicurean Market in August will offer a Singapore street-food experience and cocktail bar inspired by local flavours.

The culinary festival will run at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre from August 11 to 13.

Its new street-food experience will be set in a traditional two-storey shophouse and presented by Marina Bay Sands’ international buffet restaurant Rise. It will feature dishes such as Rendang Pipi Daging (braised wagyu beef cheek with turmeric ginger rice), roti prata and Teochew Png Kueh. Local dishes with a twist will include banana fritter with gula Melaka ice cream, and Ginseng Abalone Bak Kut Teh. There will also be traditional sweets such as Ice Chendol, Ice Kachang Ball, Muah Chee and Ting Ting Tang.

There will also be demonstrations of making the savoury pastry Char Siew Soh.

The new Kampung Bar will offer cocktails inspired by hawker fare and including such spices as chili, lemongrass and pandan.

A hallmark of the market, international cuisine will again be offered, including celebrity-chef signature bites, award-winning wines and fresh produce.

Epicurean Market 2017 will also offer a sneak preview of Lavo, a multi-concept restaurant, lounge bar and nightclub. Known in Las Vegas and New York, it will be making its Asian debut at Marina Bay Sands. At the market it will offer Italian fare. Another new entrant is Japanese ramen restaurant chain Ippudo.
