Zara powers superb Inditex sales quarter

Zara parent Inditex has reported a stunning 18 per cent increase in quarterly profit on sales up 12.5 per cent.

Inditex sales measured in constant-currency terms increased by 12.5 per cent in the three months ended June 3 to €5.6 billion and net profit was €654 million.

Zara launched online in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam during the quarter and will add India to its coverage in the second half of this year.

Elsewhere in Asia, Inditex’s Zara Home chain opened its first flagship store on Shanghai’s West Nanjing Road in May.

Zara opened the doors of its new flagship store in the Ismail Building in Mumbai, which boasts a total floor area of around 4800 sqm.

In a results announcement, the company said all of its banners increased their international presence, ending the period with 7385 stores in 93 markets.
