Henry Chu to become BreadTalk CEO

Singapore-headquartered BreadTalk has appointed a new CEO.

Henry Chu, currently the retail baker’s MD, will assume the new role on July 1, succeeding Oh Eng Lock.

Chu, 47, was head of BreadTalk’s bakery division from 2010 to 2012 before moving to Hong Kong where he spent four years as GM of Maxim’s Caterers.

BreadTalk chairman George Quek said he was pleased to welcome Chu back on board.

“He is a proven leader who has demonstrated exemplary management capabilities and a track record of accomplishments throughout his career.”

Chu’s CV also includes a stint as director of operations with Delifrance Singapore and operations director with Starbucks Thailand and Starbucks China.

Since taking on the BreadTalk MD role last year, Chu has overseen the company’s global F&B operations, including restaurants Carl’s Jr in China, RamenPlay and Toast Box, and the foodcourt concept Food Republic .

He rejoined BreadTalk last year as part of a succession plan.
