Kioda plans 300 stores through JV in India

Malaysia-based Korean-concept retail store Kioda plans to open 300 stores in India by 2021 following a partnership with Franchise India, which is investing US$10 million for expansion and marketing.

Offering cosmetics, gifts, stationery and household items, Kioda is looking to source 25 to 30 per cent of its products locally for Indian stores, with the rest to be imported from Malaysia.

“We eventually want to source products from India itself, especially in the F&B range,” says Kioda MD Alvin In.
Already in China and Singapore, the company plans to expand to 13 more countries by next year.

Kioda and Franchise India signed their JV agreement at the Master Franchise Show in Delhi, in which more than 150 companies participated.
