H&M India puts focus on second-tier cities

H&M India will add eight more stores to its network over the next six months with a focus on second-tier cities.

The Swedish retailer is adding 14,864 sqm of retail space this year and taking its network to 24 stores within two years of launching into India.

There are also plans to go online in India from next year.

“This autumn, H&M will have eight more stores across Bangalore, Delhi NCR and Mumbai as well as Amritsar, Coimbatore and Indore,” says H&M India country manager Janne Einola. “We see India as an important part of our global expansion.”

In the first half of this year, H&M opened online stores in six markets, including Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan, with plans to add the Philippines before year end.
