Japan’s JCB ready to roll in Europe

Japan’s international payment brand JCB is about to roll out in 36 European countries and the UAE.

This follows the signing of a licence agreement between its international subsidiary JCB International (JCBI) and e-commerce payments service Checkout.

Through the partnership, JCB card acceptance will be available to all Checkout.com merchants in the coming months. The merchants will be able to accept payment from any of the 106 million cards on the JCB international network.

Also, the agreement makes Checkout.com one of the few acquirers to service all major card networks. It is also one of the few pure-play acquirers to be awarded the JCB licence in Europe.

Founded in 2010, Checkout.com is an international fintech company providing end-to-end e-commerce payment services. Built on its own proprietary technology, its online platform offers integrated access to all debit and credit cards as well as alternative and local payment methods. Clients include Adidas, Deliveroo, TransferWise and Virgin. It has four offices internationally, including Singapore.
