Mr DIY has opened its 300th store, at The Mines shopping centre in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.
With 1394sqm of floor space, the store offers 20,000 products across nine departments – household, hardware, electrical, car accessories, toys, stationery, gifts, sports, jewellery and cosmetics.
“Apart from its strategic location, this store has a larger retail space compared to the average store size of 743sqm,” says Mr DIY marketing head Andy Chin.
To mark the store’s opening, Mr DIY gave away RM2050 (US$480) worth of cash vouchers to the first 50 customers and mystery gifts to the first 300 customers, while those who spent a minimum of RM30 were given a souvenir umbrella.
Also, three lucky customers will participate in a Grab-All-You-Can game where they can take home all the items they can grab off the shelves within 30 seconds.
Chin says the Malaysian company plans to expand to 360 stores by the end of this year. The retail chain serves 110 million customers a year and aims to achieve RM1.25 billion in revenue this year.
Mr DIY also has 45 stores in Thailand and three in Brunei.
“We aim to enter the Indonesian market either in October or November, with the opening of 10 to 12 stores,” says Chin.
