Shiatzy Chen opening flagship store in Paris

Taiwanese fashion house Shiatzy Chen, founded in 1978 by Wang Chen Tsai Hsia, is opening a flagship store on Avenue Montaigne in Paris today.

Channeling the brand’s fusion of East and West, the store has been designed by architect Johannes Hartfuss from Australian agency Layan Design. The floor and walls are finished in light colours and high-end materials such as marble, mother of pearl and silk panels. These contrast with a black metal ceiling.

A feature is a 3D triangular marble stone wall in the staircase that leads from the ground floor to the upper level.

On the ground floor are the fashion house’s accessories, including bags, jewellery, footwear and scarves. The first floor focuses on the brand’s men’s and women’s collections. A VIP room is available, with two booths and a private area.

It is nearly 16 years since the fashion house opened its first European outpost, on Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris.
