After a revitalisation by Link Asset Management, Chung Fu Plaza has had a grand re-opening, being rebranded T Town.
Officiating at the opening were Link Asset Management CEO George Hongchoy and director (asset management, Hong Kong) Peionie Kong, with Singaporean artist Ben Qwek and TV personalities Sharon Chan, Vincent Wong and YoYo Chen.
Spanning more than 190,000sqft (17,652sqm), T Town is next to the MTR Light Rail stop in Chung Fu, and close to such tourist attractions as Hong Kong Wetland Park. Highlighting its significance as a Tin Shui Wai landmark, T Town has a water-inspired design motif running from south to north and extending to its facade.
T Town is home to more than 120 specialty tenants, ranging from global fashion and beauty brands to international restaurants. These include Duck Garden from Beijing, Sichuan and Shanghai cuisine from the Shanghai Po Po Group, Jiufen Shifen with its Taiwanese street food, and Comma, one of the few western restaurants in the district.
Adventure game
Another feature is the Giant Pinball Adventure, based on a map of the Tin Shui Wai neighbourhood. Wong became a “real-man pinball” to make the first journey through the life-size pinball course.
After his game, he said T Town is in Hong Kong’s backyard with hills and lakes. His wife YoYo says it offers both nature excursions and retail entertainment. “It will become one of our destinations for family recreation.”
Clinics and nurseries have been added to the complex to service local residents.
“Shopping at T Town lets me relax and I can bring my son along to visit the parks and experience nature firsthand,” says Chan. “The addition of clinics and nurseries is also great news for breastfeeding mothers like me.”
For the official opening, Ben Qwek designed a 3D Trick-eye Art Experience Zone that includes secret codes. He says his artwork includes at the features of T Town.
T Town has launched games and gifts to mark its opening. Running until November 5, these include a 3D printing workshop, limited-edition “quick-dry” umbrellas or tote bags with an exclusive Ben Qwek design, and a lucky draw with prizes totalling HK$150,000 (US$19,000) in value.
