Harvey Norman Malaysia goes big in Kuching

Harvey Norman Malaysia has officially launched its first superstore in east Malaysia, at Kuching’s Vivacity Megamall.

The anchor store covers 46,806sqft (4348sqm) across two floors and offers the biggest range of electrical, computers and communications, furniture and bedding products in the city.

“It is a first-of-its-kind shopping experience with a huge range of merchandise,” says Harvey Norman MD for Singapore and Malaysia Kenneth Aruldoss.

The first level features furniture and bedding products including sofas, coffee tables, dining sets, homewares, outdoor furniture, home office, television cabinets, recliners, rugs, mattresses, bed frames, bedroom sets, children’s bed frames and bedding accessories.

On the second floor are home and kitchen appliances, audio visual, cameras, a photo centre, computers, games hub, and health and fitness products.

Aruldoss says prices in Kuching will be consistent with those in peninsular Malaysia.
He also says Harvey Norman is planning 30 more outlets nationwide over the next five years.

The Kuching duplex store features several firsts for Harvey Norman, including its furniture display and scheme. It also has the biggest Dyson display area in Sabah and Sarawak with space enough for testing.

The store will also offer cooking demonstrations and opportunities for gamers to experience VR,

Established in Australia in 1982, Harvey Norman now has more than 280 stores worldwide.
